“I am 84 years old and live with my wife, 3 children and 3 grandchildren. The pump was installed on an existing open well. The challenges faced were that using a rope and bucket was  strenuous. This led to communities drawing limited amounts of water for home use. As a dairy farmer, I had problems getting enough water for the cow. As such I depended on casual labourers to draw water. The situation was just difficult and it affected other daily activities as it was time consuming and needed someone with strong hands.

The Pump installed has made a big difference. Life has been simplified. At any time, I get water that I need and  yes I am able to do more. Every day is simpler for me to supervise the workers to ensure that they provide water for the cow. Now ever since I started to use a pump, I spend less time supervising the work that has been done. This has helped me to have more time to attend and participate in the Boer Milk Bulking Group where I am the chairperson.”
